"Sleep Well, Eat Well, Play Well" - What Wellness Really Means

Feb 12, 2026

We encounter countless things in life. Sometimes joy, mostly patience, and at times, hardship.

"How should I live?"

Everyone asks this question without an answer, searching for their own way forward. You, me, none of us are exceptions.

There are many ways to navigate through life. Today, we want to introduce you to Wellness. This common word usually brings to mind green vegetables and people running—clear images, but somehow unclear meaning.

Wellness doesn't simply mean Health. It's closer to "a way of living."

What Do We Need to Live ‘Well’?

"I was born, so life just happens"—wouldn't that be nice? But our lives aren't that simple.

We need money, we need health, and we need someone precious. Even when all these seem fulfilled, we still pursue something more for a greater life.

Wellness can encompass all of this. It means comprehensively caring for physical, mental, emotional, and social health—aiming for a better life.

So, how can we live a wellness-oriented life?

What We Wished for Children—We Need for Ourselves

When we were very young, what did adults want for tiny us?

To become a celebrity on CNN every day? To break records no one else could? To have honor and command many people?

Probably all wrong answers. It was actually just 5 simple things:

  • Sleep well
  • Eat well
  • Play well
  • Poop well
  • Wash well

Yes, this is the foundation of wellness. The most important things are surprisingly simple. 🌈

When Life Gets Exhausting, Start with One Thing

But here's the problem. We've become adults, and instead of maintaining these principles and building on them, we're living lives in which even these 5 basic principles collapse.

We rush through meals, sacrifice sleep to work more. We're too exhausted to even play anymore.

We end up on the couch, doom scrolling for hours, order delivery loaded with sugar and regret. Finally, we feel our mood sink lower and lower.

This isn't the life we wanted. Questions without answers keep piling up. A life where we can't sleep when we should, can't eat when we should, can't play when we should.

Does this sound like you?

It's okay. You don't need to reclaim all 5 things perfectly at once. Just choose one thing for today.

  • Today-Sleep by 11 PM. Tomorrow-Drink a glass of water in the morning. Day after tomorrow-Take a 10-minute walk during lunch.

Your wellness starts here. One small choice. ☘️

The 8 Dimensions of Wellness

"I want to live a better life."

If you're reading this carefully, you probably have that intention. So what should we take care of, and how should we act?

Many experts suggest the Wellness 8 Dimensions as an example.

Individual: Physical and Mental Health

The foundation should be the health of our physical body. There's a very old saying: "A healthy mind in a healthy body."

When our body isn't healthy, we can collapse more easily.

The reverse is also true. Processing our emotions and caring for our inner world is equally essential.

  • Physical - Physical health, exercise, nutrition
    • Simple practice: "Take the stairs instead of the elevator."
  • Spiritual - Meditation, meaning, values
    • Simple practice: "10 minutes of morning meditation"
  • Emotional - Emotional expression, stress management, counseling
    • Simple practice: "Journal when something makes you angry."

Society: Achievement and Connection

Because humans are social animals, individual health extends to relationships.

We want financial stability and career growth.

And we also want connection—people we can share with, communities where we belong, relationships that make us feel seen.

  • Financial - Financial stability, planning, resources
    • Simple practice: "Set aside 5,000 won daily."
  • Occupational - Job satisfaction, growth, work-life balance
    • Simple practice: "Briefly review today's work before leaving."
  • Intellectual - Intellectual growth, learning, creativity
    • Simple practice: "Start reading an interesting book."
  • Social - Connection, relationships, communication, belonging
    • Simple practice: "Call a friend or family member."

World: A Sustainable Future

If we've connected from the individual to society, we can now look at the past and the future.

Thinking about the world we'll leave behind—for our future selves, our children, our grandchildren.

This is how our individual lives can expand into better lives.

  • Environmental - Environment and safety, sustainability, eco-friendly
    • Simple practice: "Use one less disposable item."

Today, we've introduced the concept of 'Wellness.'

The Pylon Square aims to share various ways to live a wellness-oriented life going forward.

How was your day today?

What adults wanted for you when you were young: "Sleep well, eat well, play well."

Start your Wellness here. 🌿
